Breast reconstruction is a surgery performed to restore the shape of the breasts after the tissue is removed during mastectomy (conducted to treat or prevent breast cancer).

Minimal-scar breast reduction involves liposuction to remove excess fat tissue from the breast. It is normally sought by women who wish to accomplish an aesthetically pleasing breast contour and size proportionate to their body, and to mitigate the discomfort associated with unusually large breasts.

It is usually performed in those treated for breast or head and neck cancer but can be carried out on any part of the body to restore aesthetics and function. The reconstructive procedure may be performed during surgery for cancer removal or as a separate procedure.
